  • Posted on: April 9, 2018 - 10:03

The application cluster Industrie 4.0 is a cooperation of the sub-projects TP C, TP D and TP Q of the LOEWE project Software-Factory 4.0. The aim of the cooperation is to create a practical application of the methods, techniques and tools developed in the project.

To strengthen the interactions between the individual cluster participants, cluster meetings are held regularly. At the first meeting the participants were given the opportunity to meet in person and to learn about the Department of Computer Integrated Design (Datenverarbeitung in der Konstruktion - DiK) of the TU Darmstadt.

After an introduction of the participants and general information about the DiK, the participants were guided through the research laboratory of the Institute. The research laboratory is divided into the four fields of Additive Manufacturing, Industrial 4.0, Virtual Product Development and IT Security. Virtual and physical demonstrators exist for each of these fields of research, which provide a practical reference to the individual research areas. The research assistants of the DiK reported on their research topics at the respective stations and answered the questions of the cluster participants. The guide can be experienced virtually at any time here.

Afterwards the process learning factory of the Center for Industrial Productivity (CIP) was visited. In the process learning factory, the participants were given an impression of the production of a pneumatic cylinder at the level of Industrie 4.0 by means of various production stations.

Finally, the cluster participants gathered in a meeting room to discuss the framework conditions of the collaboration and the next goals of the cluster.

The first meeting can be evaluated as successful and important for collaboration within the cluster. Preparations are already in progress for the next cluster meeting.
